“You know I’m born to lose,
And gambling’s for fools,
But that’s the way I like it, baby,
I don’t wanna live forever…”
After a short battle with an aggressive cancer, legendary front-man Lemmy Kilmister has died. He learned of his ailment only recently, on December 26th. Here’s the official post of off their Facebook page:
“There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family.
We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words.
We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD.
Have a drink or few.
Celebrate the LIFE this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself.
HE WOULD WANT EXACTLY THAT.
Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister
Born to lose, lived to win.”
Sometimes news like this hits you where it hurts. It kicks you in the balls and knocks you off your feet. And it’s certainly too soon after losing rock legend Scott Weiland, another one that knocks the wind out of you.
So I, like millions of other Motorhead fans out there tonight, just poured a tall glass of Bourbon, and introduced the neighbors to “Ace of Spades”.
“And don’t forget the Joker…”
